In a recent
article published by IWPR, the Iraqi Transportation Minister admits that Transport Ministry officials have stolen everything from bed sheets to buses and sold them on the black market. They have paid out tens of millions in US dollars to cronies for train station waiting rooms that were never built. According to the article, the ministry even spent $300 million for an aircraft that was worth less than a quarter of that amount, with officials suspected of pocketing the difference ($225 million).
A difference, that no doubt, will be directly or indirectly made up for by US taxpayers. But don't worry, following the shining beacon of their Bushevik mentors, the Iraq Transport Ministry has formed 20 internal committees to investigate itself. I am sure a refund check will be forthcoming, along with the one from Halliburton.
Meanwhile, back at home, schools are cutting programs due to decreased federal funding, and veterans are waiting more than six months to see a doctor. It is bad enough that our children, seniors and veterans are suffering at the hands of our own corrupt political appointees, but now we are being robbed by crooked Iraqis as well. In the meantime, Fearless Leader tells us that we must bend over and "stay the course", while his buddies line up to rape us.
